Did we think that after 25 years of friendship, we would be writing books together? Nope, but here we are. Erin has always been the book-loving friend, and Dana Darlene has always been the friend who gives Erin a hard time for loving her smut-filled books. When your friend is reading about nine-inch swords (IYKYK), how can you not give her a hard time? That was until Dana realized how fun nine inches could be in books. Oh boy, they are so fun.
In the Summer of 2022, Dana discovered BookTok, which reinvigorated her love for reading contemporary romance with a side of smut. While Dana was rediscovering her passion for reading and talking Erin’s ear off about her newfound love for this genre, Erin had a secret. Despite her self-doubt and fear of failure that had prevented her from finishing several books through the years, Erin had started writing a book again.
And here is how it all went down…
Erin: Hey, I have been harboring a deep dark secret. I’m four chapters into writing a smutty romance novel.
Dana: WTF? I want to read it.
Erin: No! I’m never sharing it. I suck as a writer.
Dana: I won’t judge. But are there swords, like long swords? Ha. But seriously, I need to read it. Share it with me, and I promise not to bother you about it.
Erin: Never. Gonna. Happen.
Dana: I’m not going to stop bothering you until you share it. You should have never mentioned it if you didn’t want to share it with me.
Erin: Fine. I will show you the first four chapters, but I will probably never finish the book.
Three months later…
Dana: I know I said I wasn’t going to bother you about the book, but I might have lied. Ha! I need to know how it ends, when will you finish it?
Erin: Don’t put pressure on me.
Dana: I needs to KNOW!
Another three months later…
Dana: I loved the book. You should make it into a series.
Erin: I haven’t thought much about it.
Dana: I have ideas, and you have writing skills; here’s what we should do…
